On November 6, 2018, California voters will consider whether to repeal funding for transportation projects across the state (Proposition 6). While contractors and the construction industry have taken a leading role in opposing Prop. 6, it is critical that we comply with the laws governing campaigns, including the prohibition against the use of public funds and public resources to support or oppose a ballot measure.
We encourage you to campaign against Prop. 6 on your own time and using your own resources.
However, we need to ensure that no campaign activity occurs at public work sites or in public buildings and facilities. The following activities are not permissible on public property such as CalTrans or local government construction job sites:
- Passing out flyers or other campaign materials
- Hanging banners or signs
- Encouraging people to vote against Prop. 6 or recruiting volunteers for the campaign against Prop. 6
- Soliciting contributions
Please help us defeat Prop. 6 by continuing to spread the word while strictly avoiding any campaign activity at public worksites and any use of public resources or facilities.
