Sacramento – In an editorial Thursday, the LA News Group warned state lawmakers “unless we change the way we fund both roadways and rapid transit, we fall into a pothole from which there is no escape.”

Members of the Fix Our Roads coalition, including cities/counties/business groups/transportation groups echoed The Daily News’ call to legislators, saying California lawmakers need to pass a transportation package to provide ongoing funding for transportation needs. A responsible package of funding would include new revenue coupled with responsible reforms to ensure transportation funding goes where it should, to transportation projects.

Los Angeles News Group Editorial: “Fix California’s crisis-plagued transit funding”

  • “The problem of saving what the CTC calls California’s “crumbling transportation infrastructure” isn’t off in the future – it’s today.”
  • “Senators and Assembly members, we realize your constituents don’t want to hear about new taxes. But unless we change the way we fund both roadways and rapid transit, we fall into a pothole from which there is no escape. Do the brave thing and quickly adopt comprehensive improvements to the fuel tax to keep California on the move.”
